The Pomina Group has decided to register to purchase 6,000 doses of vaccines for its workforce as soon as it received the proposal from the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Department of Health to purchase and commit to using vaccines from the UK and the US.
The Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Department of Health has a supply of Pfizer (US) and AstraZeneca (UK) vaccines, so they proposed the purchase and commitment to use with prices ranging from 300,000 to nearly 1 million Vietnamese dong.
Specifically, the Pfizer vaccine is a strain to prevent SARS-CoV-2 produced by the US, with an FDA-recognized efficacy of up to 95% based on clinical trial results, permitted for emergency use to prevent COVID-19 in individuals aged 16 and older under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Each person receives 2 doses 21 days apart. The price per dose (when arriving at Tân Sơn Nhất airport) is 39.90 USD, equivalent to 917,700 Vietnamese dong per dose (at the current exchange rate).
The second type is the AstraZeneca vaccine produced by the UK, clinically tested with an efficacy of over 90%, allowed for individuals aged 18 and older (including those with underlying conditions). Each person will receive 2 full doses (0.5ml/dose), with the doses administered 2 months apart. The price per dose (when arriving at Tân Sơn Nhất airport) is 12 EUR per dose, equivalent to 335,808 VND per dose (at the current exchange rate).
In response to the government's call to combat Covid-19 with the spirit of "5K + Vaccine," as well as ensuring the health and safety of Pomina's employees, upon receiving the information, the Pomina Group's Leadership Board immediately registered and committed to purchase and pay for 6,000 doses of vaccines from the Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Department of Health.
These vaccines will be provid ed free of charge to all 3,000 employees at the Pomina Flat-Steel Factory, Pomina Steel 1, Pomina Steel 2, Pomina Steel 3, and representative offices. Some employees at high risk of community transmission will also be supported with an additional 2 doses for their family members.
We hope that with this information, the collective workforce of Pomina Steel Company can be more confident and reassured when working at the company, while also contributing more effectively to the country's epidemic prevention efforts.
